Amazing 3 Ingredient Tomato Sauce (and a little trick)
This simple tomato sauce requires only 3 ingredients (not counting salt & pepper). Yet you'll get a sensational dish with just one little trick: Using a lot of onions and blending them into the sauce, reduces the sharp, acidic taste of the tomatoes and makes the sauce more balanced and sweet.
1can or bottle of plain tomato, 400g / 14 ozwhole, in pieces, or pureed - it doesn't really matter
Salt to taste
Instructions
Sauté the onion in the olive oil on low to medium heat until soft and glassy.
Add tomato. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
Puree the onions and tomato with a food processor or hand mixer until smooth.
Taste and correct for salt.
Serve to your favorite pasta, zoodles, pizza, or any other dish that might require a good, homemade tomato sauce.
Notes
Note: You can also sauté a carrot and a rib of celery in with the onions. This gives the sauce an even sweeter and deeper taste, but it is not necessary.
